Spider control

Exterior spider control for homes from Sarnia to Port Elgin

Webs on the garage door, around the porch light, along the soffits and in every window corner. That is what a house near Lake Huron looks like by July. We take it back and keep ahead of it.

What a visit includes

Removal first. Treatment second.

Step 1

Every web, spider and egg sac comes off

Every visit starts the same way: a walk around the house, then everything within reach comes off with a backpack HEPA vacuum, and the high eaves and peaks are swept down with a cobweb brush on a telescoping pole. It works the moment we do it, it means less product goes on the house and less can reach the garden or the storm drain, and it is the part of the job a lot of the industry skips.

Step 2

Treatment only where spiders settle

Eaves, soffits, window and door frames, the foundation wall, around exterior lights. Treatment goes on the building itself, not the soil, mulch or lawn beside it. We use products registered in Canada, applied according to the label by a trained technician supervised by our licensed exterminator. When we treat overhead, the technician wears eye protection as the label requires and a respirator as company policy. You get a written summary after every visit with the product name, its PCP registration number, where it went, the re-entry time and our exterminator and operator licence numbers.

Where spiders build on a house

Window corners and door frames, especially on the side facing the prevailing wind
Soffits, eaves and the underside of overhangs
Porch and garage lights, and the siding around them
Garage door tracks and frames
The foundation wall and lower siding
Shed and workshop exteriors

We also point out the two things that keep attracting spiders between visits: bright white exterior lights, and gaps around vents and cables. Fixing those keeps working after we leave.

A season on your house

When the visits happen and why

Spiders around Lake Huron follow the insects, and the insects follow the lake and the lights. Three visits, timed to that cycle, keep most homes clear from spring to fall.

MayOverwintered spiders and the first egg sacs. Webs and sacs removed, first treatment of the active areas.
JulyPeak insect hatch off the lake and peak webbing. Webs removed, re-treatment of active spots only.
SeptemberThe biggest spiders of the year and the egg sacs that become next spring's problem. Removal and treatment.
Between visitsA few new webs by the lights after a hatch are normal and the plan expects them. If treated areas are building up again inside 60 days, tell us and we come back.

What people ask about spider control

Will one visit get rid of every spider?

No, and anyone who says otherwise is selling. Spiders live in the yard and walk onto houses all summer. One visit clears what is there and treats the spots that need it. If webs come back on treated areas within 60 days, we come back. A Season Plan keeps the house covered from spring to fall.

What about children and pets?

Everyone stays off treated areas until they are dry, which the written instructions we leave will say. We use products registered in Canada, applied by a trained technician supervised by our licensed exterminator, according to the label, and the web removal part of the visit uses no product at all.

Do I need to be home?

No. We need the gate open, the dog inside and the areas we discussed clear of cushions and barbecue covers. We leave a summary at the door or by email. The full prep checklist.

What if it rains?

We do not spray in rain or high wind. If the forecast turns, we move you to the next service day and tell you. Once a treatment has dried, an ordinary rain does not remove it. Weeks of sun and weather do wear any treatment down, which is one reason the guarantee exists.

Will it leave marks on my siding or windows?

On most surfaces there is nothing to see once it has dried. On very dark siding, painted trim or glass a faint residue is possible. We keep product off glass, we tell you exactly where we treated, and if you see anything you do not like, call us and we will look at it. If you are planning to wash siding or windows, do it before your visit; washing after removes the treatment.

Do you treat inside the house?

Not normally during the busy spring, summer and fall seasons; our crews are on the outside of homes every working day. For existing customers, we are willing to provide a separate quote for indoor work. Ask when you book.

What about the deck?

We clear the webs on decks and railings, and treat the railings and deck edges only where the label allows and activity justifies it. We never apply product to furniture or play structures. Sun, rain and foot traffic wear a deck treatment off within days, so decks are not part of the guarantee. The house is.
